Hornady Subsonic rifle ammunition is loaded in 7.62x39mm with a 255-grain Sub-X bullet. This load is specified at 1050 fps and is designed for performance below the speed of sound.

The Sub-X design uses a lead core, long grooves in the gilding metal jacket, a flat profile, and a Flex Tip insert to support reliable performance at subsonic velocities. The load is suited to applications where reduced report and recoil are useful considerations.
